It may seem redundant to speak again of how the lack of breakdowns is helping here, but it really does. The song is also just as gloomy lyrically as the rest of the tracks, something that's to be expected considering their other efforts. If there's anything that's an absolute leap of improvement here, it's in the more engaging songwriting; the band have stopped using a breakdown every ten seconds and have instead opted for more harmonized guitar work and frayed riff patterns. The main thing on this that I found surprising was that the amount of breakdowns have been reduced! The standout track of the album is without a doubt Creation Defaced as it suddenly transitions into a melodic interlude before plunging right back into the aggression.

The only problem I have with Carnifex is that they keep doing the same old material and eventually you just want to take this album out of your stereo and switch to another.

For instance, look at the first real song on here the first song is a lame intro"We Spoke of Lies. And you know something?

When the music came in, I was totally surprised by the sound on this album. Comparing this ffeel to the previous one, "Hell Chose Me" was like a Weird Al album than carnfex else. Until I Feel Nothing I am very much looking forward to hearing their upcoming fifth album.

Get the brosephs in the pit flailing around, and pick up the ladies or boys after the gig. So cheers to Carnifex, I look forward to your next album. It keeps the listener guessing, and once again, the breakdowns are very limited. The guitar work on this album does seem to outshine him, however, he is still a vital organ in this band.

Take "Wretched Entropy" as an example; a standard C riff starts the whole thing up, but once the fast-paced drum work gets going, the song becomes way more technical and unpredictable. Behemoth or Belphegor with breakdowns.

CD Review: CARNIFEX Until I Feel Nothing

He flows very well with the music and his bass pedal always follows the breakdowns extremely well. For instance, I'd never buy this album in a million years, but I acknowledge the fact that they've actually put effort into it this time.

Despite giving it their best shot, I really nothig that Carnifex is better suited to a more dissonant death-metal style, rather than the more melodic outfit they try on here. Melody also plays a huge part on this album, with the tremolo riffs which have a very black metal-ish feel to them and the acoustic outro of "Until I Feel Nothing".

Unoriginal riffs, constant breakdowns, typical deathcore. I might have been hard on this band's material in the past, as I often am with genre peers like Whitechapel or Job With a Cowboy, but it's only because I want this music to kick my ass and justify its own existence just like any other strain of metal.
